Emir of Kano: CPC blasts Okupe over alleged attack on Buhari


CONGRESS for Progressive Change, CPC, has sketched the Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe over his recent comment on Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s position on the attack of the Emir of Kano, describing it as an affront on personal liberty.
It also blamed Okupe’s response to Buhari, saying, that he has the capacity of heating up an previously tensed polity.
A statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin said the recent attack on the Emir of Kano, he also specified that the insecurity besetting Nigeria goes more than religion and ethnicity.
According to him: “As a highly regarded Nigerian once said, “the highest  warning to liberty is the none criticism”; we believe that the optimistic tactics of Dr Okupe in opprobrious every critics of this PDP-led regime is not only detrimental to an accurate  polity but also an affront on self liberty.
“The germane questions is that: does it not a great thing to our president that he speak expressively to encourage the mine set of his retinue to lambast a former Nigerian leader and respected statesman for volunteering his concern on the general insecurity in the Nation state?
 “Is it not a matter of   life and death concern that when a respected monarch, with all the retinue of security staff, If an  horribly attacked on the street, what hope is there for the ordinary Nigerian in this special consideration,” Fashakin asked.
Continuing, the CPC scribe said, “as a responsible political party, we cannot be cowed by the ignominy and loquacity of a simple presidential aide in failing to discharge our duties of nudging those that bear executive duties on the huge need for security.’’
