Many killed in clash between Nigerian army and Islamists.

The breakout from Nigerian armed forces against Islamists after a daring attack on the military in the country's restive northeast killed 53 boko's and left six troops dead, a spokesman announced early Saturday.

The  iconoclast attacked camp and a police station in the town of Damboa, in Borno state, at evening on Friday while most of the troops were patrolling in surrounding villages, drawing an army response, the defence spokesman General Chris Olukolade said in a addition.

About 5 soldiers and a senior officer were murdered while trying to drive attacker back.

The villa were cordoned off and searched, while the bodies of the fallen soldiers were recovered and taken to a military morgue. The injured once were immediate took to the military medical facility for treatment.

A residential of the town said "almost half of town has been burnt, plus the police station.
Everyone are vanishing from the town escaping to the nearest town," said a resident reached by telephone who requested with  aggressively.
