Rock Climber Died After Proposed To His Girl.

A 36-year-old Mr. Brad Parker, from Northern California, fell from Matthes Crest, considered one of the most difficult peaks to scale in the park.

His girlfriend, Jainee Dial, had accepted his marriage proposal just hours before in a climb to the summit of nearby Cathedral Peak.

Mr Parker was quoted by his father as having said it was "the happiest day of his life," the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported.

The couple went their separate ways, and shortly afterwards fell to his death.

Mr Parker was alone and without ropes in the Matthes Crest climb, Yosemite Park Ranger Kari Cobb said.

He fell on an established route and other climbers witnessed the plunge.

Mr Parker's father, Bill Parker, said fatigue from the previous climb might have been a factor in the fall.

Mr Parker appeared on a cover of California Climber magazine in 2012.

He worked as a yoga instructor and was an avid surfer and mountain biker. He also enjoyed backpacking and fly fishing trips in the Sierra Nevada with his father and brother, Mat.

Mr Parker's death was the second climbing death in Yosemite this year.
