OLD FRIEND SHOT MAN DEAD
According to police in the Dominican Republic, the minister of environment and natural resources was shot and assassinated in his office by a close boyhood friend.
Orlando According to authorities, Jorge Mera, 55, was holding a meeting at the time of the incident on Monday, June 6, and at least six shots were fired.
Miguel Cruz, a childhood acquaintance of the minister, was identified as the killer by a presidential spokeswoman.
Cruz has been apprehended by police, while the motivation for the shooting is still unknown as of press time.
Jorge Mera's family revealed in a statement that he had been shot numerous times by a man he had known since boyhood, but that they had forgiven his attacker.
