Transfer saga: Keshi threatens to drop Mba
Super Eagles
Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi has threatened to drop Sunday Mba from the Nigerian
team due to take on Harambee stars in a World Cup qualifier over the player’s
lingering transfer controversy.
Warri Wolves FC
and Rangers FC are locked in a battle over the ownership of the striker.
But Keshi said that the transfer tussle was beginning to
cause him a headache. He said that with the way the issue is going, the player
may lose form as such he might be forced to drop him from the squad.
Mba is yet to know his faith as the two clubs that agreed
to settle their differences after appearing before the NFF judicial committee
are yet to come out with a resolution on the matter.
The judicial committee had said they will report back to
the executive committee as it is the NFF Executive Committee that will make a
final pronouncement on the rightful owner of the player.
Meanwhile, Coach
Stephen Keshi has explained that he invited 15 home-based players to due to the
delay in the kickoff of the Nigeria league season. He said he wanted to be sure of the fitness
of the players.
“I invited this
number of players because most of the players are not really in form. So I have
to extend invitation to those I know can catch up on time with our training
schedule,” he said
He further said that the new status of the Super Eagles
as African Champions would make opposing teams to go the extra mile to win.
“I know my team will be under pressure to deliver
against Kenya. This is because of our new status; which is why we have to
invite players that are fully in form and ready to play for us,” Keshi said
