free ink trade deal within China and Iceland
The Iceland side has become the first European country to sign a free trade deal with China, as Beijing was looks to profit a position in the planned Arctic region.
The agreement is expected to wildly and become the second largest economy and the north Atlantic state as it underwent an ec
onomic meltdown in 2008.
The deal was signed in course of a visit to Beijing by Icelandic Prime Minister Mr. Johanna Sigurdardottir, and follows six years of discussion between Reykjavik and Beijing.
"This is an occasion expected in China-Iceland relations," The Chinese Premier Li Keqiang admitted.
"It also indication the deepening of our relationship, especially our economic relationship, which has been taken to a new level."
An offer by a Chinese property tycoon to buy 300 square kilometres of land in Iceland became caught up in controversy and was caged by Reykjavik in 2011.
The China admitted that it would like to play a larger role in the bleak.
It has applied for permanent observer status on the Arctic Council, an eight-member body including Iceland that meets to discuss matters concerning the area.
